![]() Here’s a reminder of some things J-Craw did in his lone season in ‘Sota: ![]() ( Editor’s note: Sort of like a real-life version of Uncle Drew, perhaps, with far less grey hair.) Crawford deserves remembrance from Wolves fans for bringing that energy to ‘Sota for a year. One can rest assured that J-Crossover is *still* a fierce bucket-getter and will be until he’s a very old man. Crawford, who had not retired but remained unsigned when the 2019-20 season was suspended, is probably in a gym somewhere in the Seattle area embarrassing people and teaching his craft to the next generation of Pacific coast ballers. Aside from handling the ball better than you everyone, volume-scoring is J-Crossover’s basketball mantra. This is about volume scoring and the art therein as seen through one observer’s eyes. While wasn’t even a starter, he was the guy who came off the bench to provide buckets. Brought in by Tom Thibodeau before the 2017-18 season, Crawford played just one season in Minnesota. Jamal Crawford: J-Crossover had the best handle of anyone who made the list yes, that means something to me. So, here is the short list of *my*–not necessarily your–favorite volume-scorers who donned a Wolves uniform, along with a few random stats that jumped out at me in revisiting their pages and some video for those of you who are visual learners or simply appreciate the craft. No, this listicle won’t take you to the hallowed nirvana of hoops efficiency, but it might jog some memories you can jam to while you await the return of real, live, basketball. After all of you efficiency nerds stop rolling your eyes and fidgeting with your TI-86s, I hope you’ll enjoy the ride. This edition of A Few of My Favorite Things discusses Wolves players whom I consider to belong to one important category of my favorite things–volume scorers. It’s free content, so what do you have to lose? Buyer beware. Others might go under-the-radar as extreme Wolves-geek esoterica. Hopefully my fever dreams and ramblings will amuse you also.īe forewarned: lots of opinions and takes will follow. ![]() Not scientifically, but in light of the oddities and things I’ve found the most interesting in my mind’s own catalog. Since then, I’ve been reading and thinking about how to synthesize 30-plus years of Wolves watching from my own selfish fan’s perspective. I’ve been watching the Timberwolves obsessively since the team tipped off its first game on day one of the 1989-90 season ‘til the novel coronavirus put the team out of its misery in March. The time off from normalcy has forged some kind of interest in revisiting the Wolves’ weird history and some of the team’s most-interesting characters. While the ESPN documentary The Last Dance, on Michael Jordan and the Bulls, captured the most attention, the Timberwolves have also had an interesting history, replete with bumbles, stumbles, heroes, villains, and other sundry characters. At risk of heresy–and as much as I wish COVID-19 hadn’t forced the league to suspend the season–I can say that I’ve enjoyed the looks back. * Organizers in Washington warn the public that if a May exhibition soccer game between the United States and Ireland doesn't pull a huge throng, the city's chances of getting important late-round games in World Cup 1994 will be nil.Coronavirus lockdown has taken us from a state of “I’m addicted to my iPhone and frenetic news cycles” to “I haven’t seen NBA basketball in two-and-a-half months and ‘I can haz NBA classic games?’” In the absence of the present-day NBA, we’ve been taking a deeper look at the past. and sneak in through the Washington Senators first base dugout to check out the action a couple of times a year, took in his first NBA game ever a couple of weeks back. * Former President Nixon, who used to slip away from 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. * Washington Bullets center Pervis Ellison will run summer camps at Bowie State July 13-17 and July 20-24, 9-to-5 daily at a cost of $200 per camper. Play icon The triangle icon that indicates to play ![]() ![]() And no, this shouldn't morph into a PC vs MAC argument because I have seen to many in other forums to know the outcome of that after the venom gets out - MAC believers will continue to be believers and PC Believers (well, you get the picture). The masses still numerically side with PC and unlike Beta vs VHS, MAC is not a clearly a better product in many peoples eyes (and vice versa) so it will be interesting to see how this one pans out down the road. Beta Video was clearly better technologically speaking (loosely based on the professional U-Matic standard) yet VHS won out based on the masses and marketing before both met their demise by something even better that snuck in the mix so I say to all - careful what you read, it may not be the whole truth. I am sure there are many very successful VJs within the ME camp but I am equally sure that other MAC based VJs are just as successful with VDJ in its MAC form and/or a PC solution like VDJ so "MUST" is entirely relative I would think. For a PC invested user/owner (like myself and others I am sure), going to Apple/MAC may be entirely cost, learning or time prohibitive based on mere conjecture. I am really only seeing an Apples (excuse the pun) vs Oranges comparisons in most cases instead of Oranges vs Oranges comparisons and very little of the meat described above. Internet reviews/comparisons (what few I have found) are rife with differences of opinions depending on whether you reside in the MAC or PC Camp or Serato vs VDJ camps yet I have not seen anything like a truely unbiased comparison when comparing all facets including budget, technology, sound, processing, practicality, convenience, ease of use, Human Interface differences, interchangeability, flexibility to name only a few things besides just mere preference. What you are saying might be true for earlier versions of VDJ you may have used compared to a newer version of Serato/ME that you have likely kept updated but "may" be way off the mark for a head to head comparison of the most up to date iterations of both. Once you are left behind in this game on any side and don't keep up you are merely citing opinion rather than fact is my belief. A great back end system displayed on a bad front end monitor will look plain bad so it is all a balance especially in the mobile game. Other issues can more dramatically affect outcome like the media you use, monitors in use and the video signal distribution hardware/software/pathway. I only ask this because VDJ 8 in the hands of a very experienced user can do some highly powerful stuff that earlier iterations could not hope to achieve and really, will the guests at a gig actually be able to tell the difference from their viewing/listening vantage point? Is it possible that there is more than one player in the game that can do a fantastic job when you compare this against something like the high end car industry where there are more than one brands I would not kick out of my driveway? I hate to say it but the computer/software side of things is not your only concern when VJ-ing as I'm sure you all know. I have been on ME since the beginning and it's very stable and the Nick from Inklen updates program very often.Gotta ask - are you speaking from first hand knowledge of the latest version of VDJ (8) or are you going back to prior experience with earlier versions of VDJ when you chose to follow your particular path and subsequently dismissed it as an option from that point forward? By doing that you naturally would not have been fully keeping up with the improvements on the other side of the competition. Virtual DJ is very good for the occasional VJ.įor the serious or pro VJ, Mix Emergency is MUST. I am sure you will get lots of feedback from both camps. If you are Apple-centric, it may well serve you better to go Serato/Mix Emergency (probably at a far greater cost) but I can't reall say which is better as I only know the one side so sorry for that. ![]() VDJ swings both ways and works out of the box without needing hardware/software links between multiple products and was designed as a competant VJ tool. That is really just my personal preference as I have been PC guy since the DOS era and Macs are frustrating for me because of their closed hardware/software architecture. I am curious about this mix emergency but understand it is Apple only which can be a huge and very costly hardware shift if you are PC based like myself. No need to spend months figuring out a complex package especially since I am exclusively a PC guy. It simply works reliably and effectively. ![]() I like it for being able to make music videos on the fly with stock HD video material.
